FieldML Issues

  • Embedding CellML : FieldML must be able to cope with fields that are the output of distributed cellular models, as described by CellML. There must also be a meaningful way of letting a spatially varying field be the input to a variable in a cellular model.
  • Multiple Resolutions : FieldML must be able to handle the specification of fields defined at multiple resolutions within the same space. For instance, fields defined at the anatomical, cellular, and sub-cellular levels must be able to co-exist and share information.

FieldML within the whole problem (??)

The creation, description and computational solution of biological (and other) problems can be tackled from a variety of angles. One possible split is (note that the ML names are just working names, and just parts of the whole FieldML project) :

  • MeshML : For describing the topography of a finite element mesh. In more detail; the arrangement of elements and the relationship between them.
  • DataML : For describing data sets, as recorded from simulations or experimental setups.
